Base of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr

The base Tehreek Dawat e Faqr is following verse:

وَلْتَکُمْ مِّنْکُمْ اُمَّۃٌ یَّدْعُوْنَ اِلَی الْخَیْرِ وَیَاْمُرُوْنَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ وَیَنْھَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنْکَرِ ^ط وَاُولٰٓئِکَ ھُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ۔ ( آل عمران ۔ 104)

Meaning: And from amongst you there must be a community comprising the people who invite mankind towards piety, enjoin righteousness and forbid evil. And they are the successful people. (Al Imran: 104)

Introduction of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr

Tehreek Dawat e Faqr (Regd.) is a sole organization in the modern era that comes up to the norm of the above-mentioned majestic verse of Allah. The founder and patron in chief of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr is Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib ur Rehman. He is the present Shaikh and 31^st perfect spiritual guide of Sultan Bahoo’s Sarwari Qadri order. Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen laid the foundation of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr to spread the teachings of Faqr. He also aimed to strengthen umma relationship with Allah by inviting it towards spiritual sanctification. Year 2019 marked the 10^th year anniversary of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr. Below we present a cursory glance at the list of its accomplishments accompanied by its brief introduction, aims, objectives, and ten years efforts.

Initial steps of Sultan-ul-Faqr VII Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen to spread Faqr

Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen adorned the throne of Divine guidance and persuasion after the passing of his spiritual guide Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh on December 26, 2003. He bears a scholarly, literary, and a creative personality. To deliver the teachings of Sultan Bahoo and Faqr among people, he initially wrote the books Haqeeqat e Ism e Allah Zaat and Murshid Kamil Akmal and distributed them among hundreds of people for free. He also wrote many articles to educate the seekers of Allah. In fact, Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen did not want to limit Sultan Bahoo’s teachings of Faqr in books and manuscripts. Therefore, he took a revolutionary step of taking them out of books and delivering them to public in the form of electronic books, electronic magazine countless social media pages and blogs.

Foundation of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr

As Sultan-ul-Faqr VII Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib ur Rehman did not bound the beneficence of Faqr to only one medium of communication. Instead, considering the demands of present era, he spread them in the entire world using all means of communication. To practically implement all these efforts, there was need of a platform through which the message of Faqr could spread around the world in an organized and concordant manner. Therefore, he laid the foundation of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr on October 23, 2009 (Dhul al-Qadah 3, 1430 AH). Tehreek Dawat e Faqr is a non-political and a non-government organization and its system runs through mutual consultation.

Manifesto of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr

Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen laid the foundation of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr based on a manifesto. He devised aims, objectives, rules and regulations and constitution of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr in great detail:

1.Tehreek Dawat e Faqr invites all Muslims ‘To unite and hold Allah’s rope tightly and do not create dissensions.’ The rope is Ism e Allah Zaat.

2.Faqr is the true heritage of Holy Prophet sall’Allahu alayhi wa’alihi wasallam. Inviting Muslims to gain this heritage is the manifesto of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr.

3.To invite people towards contemplation and invocation of Ism e Allah Zaat for adopting Faqr. According to Sultan Bahoo, it is due to Faqr only that Divine vision and the presence in Mohammadan Assembly is granted. Resultantly, a Muslim becomes a true believer (Mumin) and is exalted to the station of Beneficence (Ehsan).

4.Call people to ‘Run towards Allah’ ( فَفِرُّوْ اِلَی اللّٰہِ ). Indeed, this means to run towards Ism e Allah Zaat.

5.Follow sincerely the teachings of Holy Prophet as they are based on truth and reality.

6.Invite Muslims for meditation and thinking.

7.To promote love. Consequently, eliminating hatred from the world.

Based on the constitution of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr, an advisory committee (Majlis e Shura) and general counsel have been established. The central head i.e. chief organizer of Tehreek is nominated through elections. Likewise, president, vice president, secretary general, joint secretary and the spokesperson are also selected through elections. To run the administrative matters of Tehreek in an organized manner an administrative committee is set up. The slogan of Tehreek is ‘run towards Allah.’

Departments of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr

To spread the teachings of Faqr among people, different departments and sub departments are found which are working constantly to spread the teachings of Sultan Bahoo and Mohammadan Faqr. Below we present a brief introduction of these departments.

Khanqah Sarwari Qadri

The first ever Khanqah of Islam was established at al-Suffa next to al-Masjid an-Nabwi where the Holy Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) used to train and sanctify the innerselves of Companions. The Saints kept this Sunna alive in every era. The true and spiritual successor of Sultan Bahoo, Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen laid the foundation of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr on October 23, 2009 at 4/A Extension Education Town, Wahdat Road, Lahore. It was the occasion of death anniversary of Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali.

Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen found Tehreek Dawat e Faqr for the esoteric and exoteric training, sanctification of innerself, purification of inward, and enlightenment of souls of seekers of Allah. The main office and all departments of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr are located in this Khanqah. All events are held in this Khanqah under the supervision of Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen. Hundreds of seekers of Allah come here for their esoteric training and purgation of innerself. Many disciples stay in the Khanqah temporarily while others have dedicated their lives for Allah’s religion and reside in Khanqah permanently. In a short span of time the space of Khanqah ran out small due to the increasing number of disciples hence it was extended. The present address after extension is 4-5/A Extension, Education Town, Wahdat Road, Lahore.

Sultan ul Faqr Publications

Immediately after adorning the throne of Divine guidance and persuasion, Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen started literary and creative activities. On August 2006, the foundations of Sultan ul Faqr Publications and Mahnama Sultan ul Faqr Lahore were laid. Translation of Persian books of Sultan Bahoo into Urdu and English, translating books of Ghaus-e-Azam in Urdu and the precious book Mirat-ul-Arifeen of Husayn ibn Ali razi Allah anhu into Urdu and its exegesis are significant achievements. Besides that, it also holds an honor to publish the books of Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen and their English translations. Other responsibilities include printing of Ism e Allah Zaat and Ism e Mohammad and the preparation of badges, posters, and other publishing material.

Mahnama Sultan ul Faqr Lahore being the only representative of Faqr in the world has gained extreme popularity in public. It completed thirteen years of its publication in 2019.

Participation of Sultan ul Faqr Publications at books fairs

Sultan ul Faqr Publications has published around hundred books till today. The department held a book stall in February 2019 at 33rd International Book Fair and show cased its books on International level. Sultan ul Faqr Publications also successfully held a book stall in November 2019 in a nine-day book fair organized by Iqbal Academy. National and international admirers showed extreme interest in Sultan ul Faqr Publications books. The famous political, social, and military personalities of country visited the book stall where they were honorarily given the books Haqeeqat e Ism e Allah Zaat, Murshid Kamil Akmal, Faqr e Iqbal, Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen and Mahnama Sultan ul Faqr Magazine. Besides the above-mentioned stalls, Sultan ul Faqr Publications participated and organized stalls in different book fairs held throughout the country.

Department of Information and Broadcasting

This is an extremely important pillar of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr whose purpose is to spread the message of Faqr and Sufism in public and keep them informed of organization’s activities utilizing all available mediums and sources. The spokesperson of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr is the head of this department. Collecting news of organization’s activities throughout the world and publish and broadcast them on different platforms is its responsibility. For the timely transmission of news there is a broad network of reporters Tehreek Dawat e Faqr throughout the country. They keep the central office informed of all activities of organization.

Tehreek Dawat e Faqr News

Mahnama Sultan ul Faqr has been publishing the activities of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr since the beginning. However, in February 2019, Mahnama Sultan ul Faqr Lahore began to publish these activities under the title of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr News. It gained so much appreciation from public that it formally started to broadcast the news on social and digital media starting April 2019. The news broadcast on all web TVs, social media TV channels, YouTube, and Dailymotion channels of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr with the cooperation of Multimedia and Design Development. After the successful telecast of news on print, social and digital media, it has launched two news websites. One is in English for global disciples and the other in Urdu for Urdu readers.

It has established many such policies for future projects which will take Tehreek Dawat e Faqr and the teaching of Sultan Bahoo in a new direction of advancement and success.

Department of Invitation and Preaching

Sultan Bahoo spread the teachings of Faqr by going around cities and villages all his life. Keeping that in mind, and considering the verse

یَاْمُرُوْنَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ وَیَنْھَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنْکَرِ ط وَاُولٰٓئِکَ ھُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ

Meaning: They invite mankind towards piety, enjoin righteousness and forbid evil.

Tehreek Dawat e Faqr founded the department of invitation and preaching. It is spreading Faqr and teachings of Sultan Bahoo by using all available sources. The members continue their preaching tours in different areas of the county all year long. In view of the command of Allah, they invite public to gain great blessing of gnosis of Allah and sanctify the innerself through invocation and contemplation of Ism e Allah Zaat by adopting the path of Faqr. The department is responsible to train disciples and devotees coming in Khanqah Sarwari Qadri. The training courses have been put together in this regard and classes are held regularly morning and evening. This department maintains an honor of preparing hundreds of preachers who are now excellently performing the task of invitation and preaching in their regions.

Department of Multimedia, Design and Development

As the name indicates this department is responsible to spread the teachings of Faqr all over the world through digital and social media. The department further divides into four sub departments. Each sub department constitutes a head and an assistant head incharge who are continuously working to make the performance of their corresponding departments better and improved. Sultan ul Faqr Digital Production

This department takes pictures and prepares videos of the events, gatherings and important meetings held under the supervision of Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen. Besides that, the department also covers the preaching tours of Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen to spread the beneficence of Ism e Allah Zaat. Audio and video kalams (devotional poetry) which include Hamd (poetry in praise of Allah), Naat (poetry in praise of Prophet Mohammad) Manqabat (poetry in praise of Saints), Abyat e Bahoo (poems of Sultan Bahoo, and kalam of Sarwari Qadri Saints are recorded and saved by this department. In addition to uploading this content on three YouTube and three Dailymotion channels of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr, the department also provides it to Website development wing and Social Media wing so that they can spread message of Faqr on relevant platforms.

Website Development Wing

Spreading Tehreek Dawat e Faqr’s message all over the world by developing websites, their maintenance and monitoring is the responsibility of this department. The department has developed 34 websites up till now. These websites constitute complete life and teachings of Sultan Bahoo, life histories of six Sultan ul Faqr Saints. Additionally, the websites include life, teachings, and efforts of Sultan-ul-Faqr VII Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen to spread Mohammadan Faqr. The websites also contain all Sultan ul Faqr Publications books and old and new copies of Mahnama Sultan ul Faqr Lahore. Readers can download as well as read them online. These websites have been developed according to international standards and are extremely simple and easy to navigate. Seven out of thirty-four websites are in Urdu while remaining twenty-seven are in English.

Sultan ul Faqr Publications App

The department of websites development wing also created a Sultan ul Faqr Publications android application for Google App Store in March 2019. Initially on this app, present copies of Mahnama Sultan ul Faqr as well as its previous three years copies are available for the readers. Readers can now easily read as well as download the magazine on this app. Very soon all English and Urdu books of Sultan ul Faqr Publications will be made available on the app.

Social Media Wing

Social means of communication i.e. social media specially Facebook has gained a lot of popularity during the last decade. It is not only a way of social communication but has also become an extremely important source of awareness among public. Keeping in mind the growing importance of social media in our lives, this department of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr is spreading the teaching of Faqr using all social forums. There are eighty pages of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr working on Facebook. In addition to that, teachings of Faqr in English and Urdu are being posted in the form of beautiful posts on Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Reddit, Tumbler etc.

One of the additional worth mentioning success of social media wing in 2019 is the creation of official Pinterest and Twitter accounts. These accounts spread the message of Mohammadan Faqr day and night. Three Facebook Tv channels, three Twitter and three Instagram Tv Channels have also been created on these social media forums. This department uploads audio and video content on these channels with the cooperation of Sultan ul Faqr Digital Productions.

Website Promotion Wing

This is an important assistant department of Website Development Wing. Its responsibilities include promotion of websites and improvement of their ranks so that the message of Faqr can be conveyed among maximum people.

Department of Security

The purpose of this department is the continuous surveillance of Khanqah Sarwari Qadri as well as Sultan ul Ashiqeen house to avoid any unpleasant incident. The department also performs the duty of Sultan ul Faqr VII Sultan ul Ashiqeen’s personal security. They also handle the security of thousands of disciples who come in the gatherings of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr.

Department of Food and Lodging

The hospitality of the disciples and devotees who come to khanqah has been a tradition of Saints since the beginning. Thus, to continue this Sarwari Qadri tradition, Tehreek Dawat e Faqr formed a department of food and lodging. This department ensures to take care of the needs of the disciples who visit and reside in Khanqah Sarwari Qadri. Additionally, this department also manages the preparation and serving of the langar for the special occasions or events.

In 2019, several spiritual gatherings and events were organized. For instance, Mawlid an-Nabi, celebration of the day of transference of Faqr, event in the remembrance of Husayn ibn Ali, Gyarween Sharif (honored day of 11^th), celebration of the foundation day of Tehreek Dawat e Faqr, etc. In all these events, the department of food and lodging served langar to thousands of disciples. This year they not only increased their manpower but also bought the necessary utensils required for the preparation of langar.

Regional Offices

Sultan-ul-Faqr VII Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen is not only a protagonist of Sultan Bahoo’s teachings but also his true spiritual successor. His disciples and devotees are increasing day by day from around the country. Therefore, it is important to open local offices who work under the banner of Tehreek Dawat-e-Faqr. Just like the main office, the local offices also have a head, general secretary, joint secretary, spokesperson, and treasury which collects funds in the local area. Sultan-ul-Faqr VII Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen himself inaugurated most of these local offices during his annual spiritual tours. These local offices work hand in hand with the main office to spread the teachings of Faqr in their areas. They hold weekly and monthly spiritual meetings to convey the message of invocation and contemplation of Ism-e-Allah Zaat.

International Disciples

The efforts of Sultan-ul-Faqr VII Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen to spread Faqr around the globe would remain unexemplary till doomsday. Initiating a system of online bayah (oath) is a proof of his perfect spiritual powers. Earlier it was necessary to come in the court of perfect Sarwari Qadri spiritual guide at least once. Only then he would grant the invocation and contemplation of Ism-e-Allah Zaat. With the convenience of online bayah, there remains no restriction to come to the court of spiritual guide for bayah. According to the demands of new era, Allah has elevated the status and name of Sultan-ul-Faqr VII Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman. He has endowed the seekers with the true heritage of Faqr making it easy to follow. Undoubtedly, such a revolutionary and apparently impossible step requires immense spiritual abilities.

To date, thousands of men and women have entered the Sarwari Qadri order through online bayah. In fact, thousands of non-Muslim men and women have accepted Islam on his hands through online bayah. Indeed, it is extremely difficult to gift spiritual favor to a disciple without a single physical meeting. This is in fact an evidence of the spiritual prudence of Sultan-ul-Faqr VII Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen. The facility of online bayah is available on all the websites of Tehreek Dawat-e-Faqr.
